Palmer's Creek Bridge Goes In

For years, the trail along the Brandywine was interrupted by Palmer’s Creek, where a steep, muddy bank forced hikers, bikers, and equestrians to make precarious crossings. Regulars often recall slipping, falling, or wading through the cold water to continue their journey. The Friends of First State recognized this challenge and took action. In 2024, they designed, funded, and constructed a beautiful wooden bridge that now spans the creek, blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings. This bridge not only ensures a safer, more accessible experience for trail users but also protects the creek’s fragile ecosystem by preventing further erosion. The community has embraced this addition, celebrating it as a practical and thoughtful improvement that enhances both the safety and beauty of the trail system.
